The Matthews family has owned Sorrento Valley Pet Cemetery & Crematory since 1978, and is now on their second generation. Matt focuses mostly on operations and back office processing as the CEO, while Wendy strives to have SVPC develop and excel in our business relationships.
For more than 14 years, Gerry has proudly led Sorrento
Valley Pet Cemetery, overseeing every aspect of the business with a hands-on approach. As the General Manager, he makes sure everything runs smoothly—from daily operations to long-term strategies so that families receive the highest level of care and support. If something’s happening at SVPC, chances are Gerry had a hand in it. Whether in the office or out in the field, he sets the standard for customer service and team excellence, keeping SVPC running like a well-oiled machine.
Outside of work, Gerry’s world revolves around family—from his spouse to his grandchildren, they are the heart of his life. A lifelong pet lover, Gerry is often joined by his “grandog,” Oliver, who happily takes on the role of official greeter for visitors.
From early childhood she recalls growing up with pets in her life. Moving from Venezuela to San Diego she brought Lucy a gorgeous Jack Russell. Unfortunately, she needed the services of SVPC for her Lucy and that was how she acquainted herself to SVPC. Married and Mom of a beautiful girl 11 years old. I also have a four paws daughter Called “Coco”. All animals know is how to give love and Joy.
Juan has 15+ years of experience in cremation and brings this knowledge to work every day. Most important is his incredibly respectful treatment of the pets in our care. Many of our vets see him during our scheduled pickups and comment on his professionalism, manners and demeanor with their staff. Juan is married with two children and has had many pets in the past. He also has a great passion for sports.
Diego is married with 3 children and 3 fur babies. Before joining SVPC, he had his Boxer “Brooklyn” cremated at SVPC and never had a doubt that he & his pet had been well taken care of. When the opportunity to work at SVPC came up, he did not hesitate. He knew that his deep love for animals and prior personal experience losing a pet would make him better connect to people going through the same experiences. His personality & great attitude makes him a great part of the SVPC team.
Our official greeter who loves welcoming customers.
